“As an Occupational therapist, my role is supporting people with disabilities to improve their quality of life through a holistic assessment approach. My priority is to address their needs, with a focus on reshaping their perception of disability and encouraging them to participate in various activities. I love the culture of MLEA, as we support each other to achieve our personal and professional goals in a safe and supportive environment.”
With over two decades of experience, Dr Alizad joins MLEA on a background of longstanding research, clinical, and academic roles. Dr Alizad has worked with children and adults with orthopaedic, musculoskeletal and neurological disorders. Her research has focused on spasticity management in children with cerebral palsy, transcranial direct current stimulation of the brain, and three-dimensional movement analysis in older adults and people with Parkinson’s disease. Dr Alizad's particular focus has been to translate the findings of her studies into clinical practice and better outcomes for people with disabilities.
In addition to her role at MLEA, Dr Alizad continues to maintain her expertise through clinical, academic and consultancy roles at Plena Healthcare, Orient Speech Therapy (China), The University of Queensland's School of Health & Rehabilitation Services, and The United Nations and Azad University.
