"As an Occupational Therapist, I am passionate about working with individuals across the lifespan to improve their independence, and help them participate in everyday activities that are important to them, despite any physical, cognitive or emotional challenges they may face. My focus as a neuroaffirming clinician is to empower individuals to achieve their maximum potential in all areas of daily life, including work, leisure, self-care and social participation through client-centred and strength-based approaches."
Beatrice started her occupational therapy journey in regional NSW, where she worked predominantly with the neurodiverse population (ASD, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties), intellectual impairments, and other developmental disabilities (Down Syndrome, FASD). Beatrice has subsequently worked in pain management within an aged care environment and was additionally involved with the provision of home modifications.
Moving back to Brisbane, Beatrice undertook therapeutic practice, working predominantly with neurodevelopmental conditions focussing on improving functional limitations. This experience has allowed Beatrice to develop her expertise as a neuroaffirming clinician and a deep understanding of the challenges and barriers that individuals and families experience in the face of injuries and disabilities. Beatrice enjoys providing education on topics within her breadth of experience, and continues to apply a strengths based approach throughout her practice.
In addition to her role as a medicolegal occupational therapist at MLEA, Beatrice continues to provide therapeutic services in her own business, working with neurodiverse individuals within the NDIS sector.
